LTI (Learning Tool Interoparability) is a standard allowing for the secure exchange of information between an LMS and external tools. The LTI protocol has been developed by the non-profit institution IMS Global Consortium with the aim of establishing a valid exchange standard for all learning management systems.
Through this protocol, external tools can safely send all kinds of information to an LMS, such as course id, results, activities, etc., facilitating interoperability between different tools to improve educational tools. LTI Advantage is the most recent and comprehensive version of the standard so far, representing roughly twice the complexity under the hood than in previous versions.
Chamilo has recently passed the certification process for LTI Advantage through IMS Global. Wanna know the details? Check this process and the certificate here.
If you want to know a little more about how the LTI standard works and its integration in Chamilo, check the following resources.
If you are interested in implementing a tool compatible with the LTI Advantage standard in Chamilo, consider hiring an official provider to do it successfully and with guarantees. Chamilo's official suppliers are private companies from different parts of the world that have passed a series of requirements imposed by the Chamilo Association to guarantee that they know what they are doing when working with Chamilo.
These companies contribute to the development of Chamilo by providing free patches, corrections, plugins, documentation, etc., which benefit the entire Chamilo community.
